General Information

Information for patients admitted for same day procedures
 
Please take note of the following information to ensure a speedy and efficient admission to the hospital :

* Please ensure that you arrive at the hospital at the time suggested by your doctor.
* Your doctor will provide guidelines for fasting (not eating or drinking even water) prior to surgery. Failure to comply with the fasting requirements can result in the delay or even cancellation of your surgery.
* Should you be taking medication routinely (e.g. for epilepsy, hypertension or diabetes), please confirm with your surgeon whether or not you should take the medication on the day of surgery.
* If you take blood thinners (such as Warfarin or Plavix), please ask your surgeon how many days before the scheduled surgery you should stop taking this medication or adjust the dosage.

Please note that after undergoing general anaesthetic you are strongly advised not to drive a motor vehicle for at least 24 hours. You should arrange for someone to collect you from the hospital following surgery or ask reception to organize a taxi for you.
 
Visitors
 
It is said that patients have a speedy recovery with the closeness of their loved ones and friends at the time of their sickness. However, we believe that our patients should not get over stressed with too many visitors at any one time. With this in mind Apollo Colombo allots one attendant pass and two visitors passes for each patient at the time of admission. Apollo has a strict policy on patient visitors and times please try to abide by our visitor policy which is in the best interest of our patients and their well being.
Visiting Hours - 8.30 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. and 7.00 P.M. to 7:30 P..M.

In their own interest, children under the age of 12 are not allowed to visit the patient areas.
     
Food and Flowers
     
Our Hospital policy does allow flowers and food hampers to be given to patients, to help and encourage them to feel better.
     
Communications / Room Telephone
     
Each patient bed is has a local land line telephone. If the patient needs to make overseas calls please dial 55 for operator to connect your call or the Ward Coordinator can issue you with an access code to make internationals calls directly. Any the calls made from the patient room will be added to the final bill at discharge.
     
The patient's bed number and the phone number are the same.
Patients can be contacted directly by dialling "011 453" followed by the bed number for private Rooms.
     
Laundry
 
Clothes and linen for the patient is provided by the hospital.
As the hospital houses an in-house laundry you are able to have your clothes washed for you. Rates for washing can be provided for you at your request, please ask the nurse or Ward Coordinator to contact the house keeping department for you. Please note that washing of clothes is not permitted in the patients rooms and the rates will be provided at request.
     
Maintenance
 
Any complaints regarding maintenance can be indicated to the Ward Coordinator at the Nurses Station.
 
Food / Diet
 
Patient's diet requirements are prescribed by the Doctor and the Dietician.

Apollo's Food Services Department conforms to the highest hygiene standards and offers a section of delicious food and assortment fresh tropical fruits. Attendants accompanying the patient can order food from the Guest Room from the Ala Carte service ext. 9072.

We do not allow food beverages to be bought in form outside into the hospital premises. Charges will be included in the final bill at discharge and the menu can be obtained from the Food Services Department. Please ask the Ward Coordinator at the Nurses Station if there is not a menu already in your room.

Prayer Room

An all-religion round the clock open Prayer Room is located in the hospital. Patients and their attendant can pray and meditate in this serene atmosphere.
