Dr. Ravindra Ruberu

Dr. Ravindra Ruberu is a Board Certified Consultant ENT Surgeon since 1989. He has served in public service in several highly distinguished capacities that include Secretary to Ministry of Civil Aviation (July 2012 – January 2015), Secretary to Ministry of Health (April 2010 – July 2012) and Consultant ENT Surgeon – Ministry of Health (1992 – 2009)

His professional appointments include Chairman – Board of study in Ortorhinolaryngology, Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo (2009 – 2010), Chief Examiner – Master of Surgery (ORL) – Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo (2009 – 2010), Examiner – Master of Surgery (ORL) – Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo (1998 – 2009), Executive committee member – Society for Sound Hearing (2009 – 2012), Visiting Lecturer – Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo (2001 – 2009).

He has also served as President – College of Otorhinolaryngologists and Head & Neck Surgeons of Sri Lanka (2008 – 2010), President – Association of Otolaryngologists of Sri Lanka (2000 – 2002), Vice president – SAARC Association of Otolaryngologists (2000 – 2006), President– Galle Medical Association (1998 – 2000), Member – Faculty Board, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna (1997 – 2000), Visiting lecturer – Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna (1992 – 2001).

As a distinguished Consultant ENT surgeon, he has served in several hospitals including National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Colombo (Feb 2001 – Jan 2009), Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya, Galle (Oct 1992 – Jan 2001), Teaching Hospital, Ragama (July 1992 – Oct 1992) and in the private health sector in Sri Lanka (2009 Feb – present).

Dr. Ruberu received his MBBS from the Faculty of Medicine at University of Colombo in 1982. He received an M.S. from the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo in 1987, received F.R.C.S. from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, UK in 1990, an MBA in Health Care Services from Sikkim Manipal University, India in 2009. He also received Certificate in Diplomacy & International Relations from Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute, Colombo. He attended Kingswood College in Kandy, Ananda College in Colombo, St. Sylvester’s College in Kandy and Royal College in Colombo.

He is a life member of the College of Otorhinolaryngologists and Head & Neck surgeons of Sri Lanka, the Galle Medical Association, College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka and the Cochlear Implant Group of India. He is also a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of England, Fellow (Hon) of College of Otorhinolaryngologists and Head & Neck Surgeons of Sri Lanka and Fellow of College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka.
