UROLOGY CARE CENTRE
Why Choose us?
The Urology Care Centre is the first dedicated one-stop centre for urology in Sri Lanka. The main advantage of this centre is that patients can be assessed and can undergo a range of investigations during a single visit. This allows most patients to be diagnosed on the same day and either be reassured and discharged or offered appropriate treatment.
The Urology Care Centre at Lanka Hospitals is a newly opened centre for treatment related to problems of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra and the genitalia. The centre offers detailed assessments and advanced diagnostics, timely treatment with cutting edge medical technology for the treatment of urological diseases. The centre has a number of dedicated urological surgeons, nephrologists, general surgeons and a resident consultant radiologist to conduct diagnostic scans.
With an ever increasing older population, there is a considerable increase in disease and mortality associated with genito-urinary related diseases in Sri Lanka. Therefore a larger number of people are now in need of investigations, radiological investiga tions and genitourinary tract related procedures and surgeries.

WHAT IS URODYNAMICS?
Urodynamics is a procedure that evaluates how well the bladder, sphincters and urethra are storing and releasing urine. Most Urodynamis tests focus on the bladder’s ability to hold urine and empty steadily and completely. Urodynamic tests can also show whether the bladder is having involuntary contractions that cause urine leakage.
Urodynamic tests may be recommended if symptoms are related to lower urinary tract. Lower urinary tract symptoms include –
- Frequent urination
- Painful urination
- Sudden / strong urge to urinate
- Urine leakage / Incontinence
- Difficulty in initiating urination
- Slow or poor stream
- Incomplete emptying of the bladder
- Recurrent urinary tract infections
- Inability to hold urine for long time
